Authorities are investigating a mysterious incident after a white Cadillac Escalade plunged 1,000 feet off a cliff near Malibu on Sunday (December 1). The crash occurred around 2 a.m. near Deer Creek Road and Pacific Coast Highway. One of the occupants, who survived with minor injuries, reported the incident to the police nearly two days later, stating that two other passengers were missing.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Ventura County Fire Department launched a search operation using drones, helicopters, and K-9 teams, but the missing passengers have not been located. Officer Ryan Ayala from the CHP described the situation as "really, really weird," noting the delay in reporting the crash and the absence of the missing individuals at local hospitals or their home addresses.
The surviving passenger, who was in the front seat, managed to free himself and hike to a nearby road. He was picked up by another vehicle but did not call 911 immediately. The CHP is working with a law enforcement agency in Washington state, where the vehicle is registered, to continue the investigation.
